You
can tell I started this in the morning and finished it in the afternoon
because of the quality of the (sun) lighting in the pictures. Those honey-doos
sure slow things down.
To start
I cut a piece of rectangular tubing slightly larger than the space in which
it would fit to leave room for the relief for the longerons.
This is
the piece of rectangular tubing cut and shaped to fit the lower longerons.
The cutout in front is to go around one of the diagonals.
Next I
drilled a hole in the center of the tubing using a step drill (a neat tool)
for fitting the 1/2" tubing.
Next I
cut the 1/2 " tubing to weld in. The tubing is supposed to be 1" long finished
size so I cut one 2" long so the ends wouldn't burn off during welding.
Here is
the tail wheel spring mount finish welded but not yet trimmed to size.
Here
is the finished mount after trimming the 1/2" tube to size.
